What Are You Reading? (April 18–24)

There have been several posts on the blog recently about the role philosophy should play in public affairs. That philosophy should speak out about current events is something that I, as well as most philosophers I know, think is a crucial part of what it means to be a philosopher (there’s a reason many, if not most, introductory classes in philosophy begin with Socrates and his role as gadfly). While I have previously written about essays that have inspired me to pursue a role as gadfly, I thought that, in line with these recent posts here, I would highlight some books that have attempted to bring together these two fields.  I would be interested in hearing about other books on the same theme people have enjoyed.  Here are the one’s I’ve uncovered:
